Conley, Randolph lead Grizzlies past Bobcats
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Mike Conley scored 20 points, Zach Randolph had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Charlotte Bobcats 94-75 on Tuesday night (Wednesday Manila time).
Memphis won its 13th straight at home and tied a single-season franchise record with its 31st home win.
The Grizzlies, who lead the NBA in scoring defense (89.7 points per game), held Charlotte to 38-percent shooting.
Kemba Walker scored 19 points to lead the Bobcats, and Gerald Henderson had 13. Charlotte lost its 13th straight on the road.
Charlotte made an attempt at snapping its road streak to start the third quarter. The Bobcats went on a 13-4 to tie the score at 53-all. Walker scored five points during the run and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had four.
Conley scored seven straight points, mostly on drives to the basket, and Quincy Pondexter added a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the quarter to give the Grizzles a 63-57 lead.
The Grizzlies led 63-60 early in the fourth quarter, before pulling away behind a 15-0 run generated mostly by their reserves. Seldom-used Jon Leuer had seven points during the run and finished with 11, a season high. The Grizzlies got 39 points from their reserves.
In the first half, the Grizzlies shot 49 percent and outrebounded the Bobcats 24-19 to grab a 49-40 advantage. Randolph nearly had a double-double at the half with nine points and 10 rebounds.
NOTES: Darrell Arthur (back) and Jarryd Bayless (knee) did not dress for the Grizzlies for the second straight game. ... The Grizzlies improved to 20-7 since the All-Star break. ... Henderson, who entered the game averaging 23.1 points in his previous seven, was held to 13 points on 6-of-16 shooting.
