Southwoods Invit’l unfolds April 10

MANILA, Philippines - A full field of 500 braces for a four-day shootout when the Manila Southwoods stages one of its premier member-guest tournaments – the 2013 Southwoods Invitational Presented by MegaFiber – on April 10-13 at the Legends and Masters courses in Carmona, Cavite.

To accommodate the big number of entries, organizers have lined up a shotgun start tee-off in all four days of the 36-hole tournament, presented by MegaFiber, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Legends and 8 a.m. at the Masters layout for the first three days. The final day will have an 8 a.m. tee-off at the Legends and at 8:30 a.m. start at the Masters. Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P8,500.

The event, initiated by Southwoods chairman Robert John Sobrepeña and his board of directors in 2000, will use the Stableford scoring format with the field to be divided into Division I (0-10), Division II (11-16), Division III (17-22) and Division IV (23-27). Also on tap is the sponsors/guest division.

Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Corp./Diamond Motors Corp., Royal Caribbean/Baron Travel and Mit Air Sales Center are the event’s year-round hole-in-one sponsors while Pacsports, Sports Specialist and Turf Company are putting up a Club Car, a Wilson golf set and Texas Eagle Golf Cart for aces, respectively.

If no one scores an ace, the following will be raffled off – Mitsubishi Lancer by MMPC and DMC, a Caribbean Cruise by RCI/BTC, a Mit-air Aircondition by Mit-Air Sales, and iron golf set by Wilson/Sports Specialist.
