MANILA, Philippines - Enzo Pastor made good impression in the first weekend of 2013 Euro Racecar NASCAR series, placing fourth in the rain-drenched second race Monday in Nogaro, France.
The Filipino driver narrowly missed a podium finish in a big improvement from his 21st windup in the first race.
“I’m happy with the result despite not ending up on the podium because 21st to fourth is more than winning, considering how the race started,†said Pastor.
“We’re confident of a podium finish next. If the April races proved anything, it’s that the best is yet to come for Enzo,†said Philippine Formula Autosports Foundation, Inc. president Tom Pastor.
Pastor made an incredible run in the second race, finishing fourth from starting spot of 21st.
“If he had another lap or two, Enzo would have overtaken them all,†noted the elder Pastor. “Everyone was cheering him on and all eyes were on him as the announcers kept talking about his spectacular drive in the rain.â€
Enzo, however, admitted he had a disappointing performance in the initial race.
“I’m disappointed because I had the pace for the first and third sector, but lost it down the straights,†said Pastor, priming up for the Euro Racecar NASCAR Asian leg slated in Clark International Speedway later this year.
Petron, Resorts World Manila, and the Department of Tourism (DOT), will serve as co-presenters of the first Asian/Philippines Euro Racecar NASCAR racing event.
