Triathlon, darts spice up Guimaras fest

MANILA, Philippines - The 20th Guimaras Manggahan Festival (April 8-21) will take on a sporty look with the staging of the second Mango Man Triathlon, third Manggahan Fun Run and the first national darts tournament.

The triathlon, to be held April 13 at the Raymen Beach in Alubihod, Nueva Valencia town, will adopt the Olympic standard (3K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) in solo and relay categories

 The triathlon will pass through the best destinations in the island-province for the swim, bike and run legs. The fun run, also to be held on April 13, will be staged at the Provincial Capitol grounds. The national darts competition will be mounted on April 19 at the GTIC Hall.

Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava and Pyr Jimenez, race director, will fire the starting gun for the fun run and triathlon, respectively.

The triathlon and fun run events are chaired by Teresita Siason. Overall chairman of the 2013 Manggahan Festival is Elijo Sharon Bellones.

Cooperating agencies are the Philippine National Police, Coast Guard, Army, Red Cross, Department of Public Works and Highways, and local government units.
