MANILA, Philippines - With the popularity of volleyball soaring to new heights, exciting collegiate action explodes anew in the third edition of the Eagle Ridge Invitational men’s volleyball tournament set to start tomorrow at the Family Clubhouse of the sprawling Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club complex in Gen. Trias Cavite.
Eight teams – AMA University, Angeles University Foundation, La Salle-Dasmariñas, Far Eastern University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, University of Perpetual Help-Las Piñas, University of Perpetual Help-Binan and University of Santo Tomas – are seeing action in the men’s division.
Five – La Salle-Dasmariñas, Emilio Aguinaldo College, National University, University of Perpetual-Biñan and University of Santo Tomas – are competing in the women’s division.
Format of competition is a single round-robin among the teams in the eliminations with the top two teams from each group advancing to the step-ladder finals.
The men’s division elimination round will be played tomorrow, the women’s eliminations on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.
At stake in the competition featuring the top teams from the UAAP and NCAA leagues is a cash prize of P50,000 plus medals and trophy for the winner, P30,000 plus medals and trophy for the runner-up and P20,000 plus medals and trophy for the third-placer.
The tournament kicks off the summer activities at the country’s largest golf club boasting of four 72-hole championship courses and topnotch facilities for basketball, tennis, badminton and table tennis plus a swimming pool and a badminton hall.
Admission to the volleyball event is free. The club will also host an Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 for kids 12 years old and below.
