Bar topnotcher is former Ateneo football captain

MANILA, Philippines – The topnotcher of the 2012 Bar Exams was a former team captain of the Ateneo men’s football team.

Ignatius Michael Ingles of Ateneo De Manila University, who topped the exams with a score of 85.640 percent, played for the Katipunan-based school’s football squad that won the UAAP championship from 2004 to 2006. He also saw action in the United Football League.

Ingles earned a degree in Communications Technology Management in Ateneo in 2006 and graduated salutatorian from the Ateneo Law School.

He bested 948 other examinees who passed the Bar, the Supreme Court announced Wednesday.

A total of 5,686 law graduates took the examination on all four Sundays of October 2012 at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila.

The exam's passing rate was 16.69 percent.
