MANILA, Philippines - Ian Mendez and Bianca Ysabel Carlos bashed their respective rivals to pocket the singles open crown of sixth Prima Pasta National Badminton Championship at the Powersmash badminton court on Pasong Tamo, Makati recently.
Mendez of Philippine Army outplayed national player Kevin Dalisay in the men’s open singles finals, 21-16, 21-22, 21-8, to win the title of the event supported by Boysen Paints, Morning Star Milling, Mabz Builders, ILO Construction, Monolith Construction, Pioneer Life, Promax, RSL Badminton Rackets and RFM Corp.
Carlos of Golden Shuttlers Foundation defeated Gelita Castilo, 22-20, 21-10, to take home the women’s open crown of the annual tournament organized by Team Prima chairman Alex Lim.
Isay Leonardo and Thea Pomar ripped Jessie Francisco and Lea Inlayo, 21-10, 21-15, to cop the girls’ doubles 19-under title, while Hans Bernardo and Vinci Manuel beat Anton Cayanan and Alvin Morada, 21-19, 21-16, for the boys’ doubles 19-U.
Other champions were Marina Caculitan and Geva De Vera (girls’ doubles 17-under); Hans Bernardo and Vinci Manuel (boys’ doubles 17-under); Nicole Albo and Iyah Sevilla (girls’ doubles 15-under); and AJ David and Joaqs Pangilinan (boys’ doubles 15-under).
