Bigger, better Bill Shaw Classic slated

MANILA, Philippines - The Bill Shaw Classic, Wack Wack Golf and Country’s Club’s signature member-guest team tournament, fires off tomorrow with a banner field and a record roster of prizes up for grabs for hole-in-one feats at the North and East courses.

A maximum field of 288 has been reached as early as last week with hundreds more hoping to get last-minute spots from the waitlist roster, underscoring the event’s status as a premier golfing tournament which offers eye-popping prizes and raffle items.

This surely will startle one and all as all roads lead to Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in Mandaluyong City this March 13-16 as the fabled golf club welcomes participants to the 24th Bill Shaw Golf Classic, an annual member-guest invitational tournament held in honor of its founding father, William J. Shaw.

Fully booked and with many still hoping to get plucked from the waitlist into the roster of participants, this year’s Bill Shaw is poised to become the biggest and most raffle-prize-endowed member-guest tournament ever in the history of Wack Wack.

Two brand new Mercedes Benz cars (C180 and C200), one Chrysler 300C, one Jeep Wrangler, one Dodge Durango SUV and one Harley-Davidson motorbike, through the event’s long-time backer and partner CATS Motors, will be staked for aces at designated holes on both courses, truly making the tournament, held in honor of Wack Wack’s founding father William J. Shaw, a premier golfing event.

One lucky player will also bring home a fine Swiss watch worth over P1 million as the grand raffle prize during awards rites on March 16, according to the Bill Shaw organizing committee, headed by Sports and Games chairman and director Carlo Baniqued and chaired by former Rizal Rep. Jack Duavit.

To spice the awards night, Delta Airlines is also giving away two round trip business elite tickets to any Delta destination in North America.

Aside from CATS Motors and Delta Airlines, other partners and co-presentors for the 24th staging of the 36-hole tournament spread over four days are Shell, D&L Industries and Globe Telecom. Other raffle prizes include laptops, iPads, iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, 46” TVs, golf sets, home theater system and range finders.
