Upcoming karters stage showdown

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s rising karters take center stage tomorrow as they vie for top honors in the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite.

Newcomer Larson Cortez and defending mini-ROK champion Flynn Jackes of TRS Karting Kids head the field in the event sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.

Cortez surprised the crowd in the Sorteo Grand Prix last month, winning the Formula Cadet Novice crown over TRS Karting Kid Jarred Kim, AUTS Racing’s Bobby Redpath and Julia de los Angeles.

Jackes, meanwhile, will be vying in both the mini-ROK and Formula Cadet Expert classes.

Out to foil Jackes bid are CityKart’s Tai Zulberti, TRS Karting Kid Wils Casequin and Sean Draeco McLelland.

Others vying in the seven-man grid are Tough Gear Racing’s Dylan Arambulo, Mickey Jordan and Adam Bondoc.

The Fil-Aussie will also go up against EJ Coseteng, Sean Draeco McLelland, Mickey Jordan, Bianca Bustamante and last year’s Formula Cadet Novice champion Jose Luigi Lachica of One Racing in the Formula Cadet Expert class.

SEAOIL-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Tayao-Cabrera, meanwhile, competes in the Formula SL Novice division against TRS Karting Kid AT Tuason.
