Panlilio named NGAP treasurer

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The National Golf Association of the Philippines unanimously voted to put MVP Sports Foundation president Al Panlilio as treasurer in place of Abe Rosal, who has resigned.

Panlilio, an avid golfer, accepted the post and promised to work hand-in-hand with the NGAP in helping realize for the country its dream of winning a first-ever gold medal in the Olympics.

The 50-year-old former varsity basketball player with Ateneo comes in as a replacement for Rosal, who had to quit due to pressing matters.

“The MVP Sports Foundation has become involved in so many sports because of the Olympic dream,” Panlilio said. “And we believe that the Philippines has a shot in the sport of golf.”

The MVPSF started its involvement with the NGAP late last year by sponsoring its amateur events, making sure that multiple tournaments are played in all regions of the country as part of the golf body’s grassroots program.

“The involvement of the MVPSF is certainly good news for the NGAP because we can now continue with the projects that we have drawn up ever since this new board came in,” said NGAP president Tommy Manotoc after the board meet at the Alabang Golf Club.

“They are hands-on types of people and they have a no-nonsense approach in executing programs,” added Manotoc. “With their help, I am sure that the sport of golf is on the right track towards gaining international acclaim for the country.”
