MANILA, Philippines - Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman invites young Marikeños to join the upcoming Summer Sports Camp 2013 this coming months of April and May at the Marikina Sports Park.
This activity aims to promote the importance of sports in leading long, quality, and healthy lives for all Marikeños, as well as to help the youth stay away from bad vices like illegal drugs.
Sports included are arnis, badminton, basketball, baseball/softball, boxing, football, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, taekwondo, mixed martial arts, and karatedo.
“The Summer Sports Camp is an annual sports event in Marikina for the youth which is entirely for free. We are encouraging the youth to join and spend their summer vacation playing sports,†De Guzman said.
In the 2012, there were 2,040 young Marikeños who joined the Summer Sports Camp. This year, the Marikina Sports Park will accomodate 3,500 participants.
Registration for the Summer Sports Camp is ongoing. It is open and free to all residents of Marikina aged 17 and below.
Interested participants must submit a photocopy of parent’s voter’s ID, barangay certificate, or proof of residency; photocopy of school ID; and a 1x1 ID picture.
Classes are divided into four batches and will last for 10 days each. Batch 1 is on April 8-22, batch 2 is on April 23-May 7, batch 3 is on May 8-21, and batch 4 is on May 12-31.
