Speedo enlists national tanker

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two-time UAAP MVP and 50m national record holder Johansen Aguilar, one of the biggest names in Philippine swimming today, recently sealed a partnership contract with Speedo Philippines.

Despite his busy schedule as a national swimmer, Aguilar is also a consistent dean’s lister for 11 terms and a candidate for Magna Cum Laude at De La Salle University for his Applied Economics and Corporate Management Degree.

Aguilar suits to be part of Speedo’s pool of elite athletes like Ryan Lochte and Rebecca Adlington.

He started swimming at age six and began competing two years later. At 11, he already represented the country at the Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships, where he brought home a silver medal for the 200m backstroke.

Last year, Aguilar broke the national record for the 50m back which he holds until now and went on to bag the UAAP Athlete of the Year award.

He also competed in the ninth Asian Swimming Championships in Dubai where he finished seventh in the finals.
