Jackes, Cabrera off to flying start in Sorteo G Prix

MANILA, Philippines - Flynn Jackes of TRS Racing Kids and Seaoil-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Tayao-Cabrera, the two fierce rivals for the Mini-ROK plum last year, showed they’re still the best young ace karters following their impressive feats in the Sorteo Grand Prix 2013 Coca-Cola KF2-KF3 Cup Series recently at the Carmona race tracks.

Jackes, 9, who eventually emerged the 2012 Mini-ROK champion, pulled off a twinkill by capturing both the Mini-ROK and Formula Cadet Expert titles.

Tayao-Cabrera, the newest Kosmic driver supported by UNO Magazine, upstaged all the Expert drivers in the combined race to clinch the Formula SL Novice crown.

The event is sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines in cooperation with the municipality of Carmona in line with the festivities for the Sorteo Festival.

Newcomer Larson Cortez copped the Formula Cadet Novice crown over TRS Racing Kids Jarred Kim and Julia delos Angeles and AUTS Racing’s Bobby Redpath.

Jackes and Tayao-Cabrera parted ways this season as they moved on to bigger challenges in higher classes.  But both mutually benefited from their intense duel for last year’s crown in enhancing their skills, strategy and racing maturity.

Their extraordinary feats in the karting season opener show what they can do at their best to become future superstars of Philippine motorsports.

Jackes was unparalleled in both categories as he quicky pulled ahead of the pack and led from  start to finish to seal his victory by a wide margin.
