Belingon seeks ONE FC title

MANILA, Philippines - Kevin Belingon tries to become the next Filipino champion after Honorio Banario in the ONE Fighting Championship as he clashes with Vietnam’s Thanh Vu in the ONE FC: Kings and  Champions on April 5 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

“It’s really my goal, to win my next fight and put myself closer to becoming the next Filipino champion in the ONE FC,” said Belingon, a 25-year-old native of Baguio City, in Filipino.

Belingon fashioned out a TKO (technical knockout) victory over Bulgarian wrestler Yusuup Saadulayev in the 3:18-minute mark of the first round in the ONE FC: Rise of Kings also in Singapore last Oct. 6 to take a step closer to a dream final stint.

It was Belingon’s 10th win against two losses as he stepped up his bid for a crack at the bantamweight title against perhaps the winner between former UFC champion Jens “Lil’ Evil” Pulver and Japanese Masakatsu Ueda in the same fightcard.

“This is more than just about me, the pride of our nation is on the line in my next fight, this is really for the country and my countrymen,” said Belingon, nicknamed the Silencer.

Banario snared the inaugural featherweight title with a shock fourth round TKO (eye injury) win over heavily favored Eric Kelly in the ONE FC: Return of Warriors in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia early this month.

The ONE FC: Kings and Champions will be broadcast live on Star Sports across Asia, marking the first time that a live Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event will be shown live on the network.

ONE FC: Kings and Champions will be available live in 28 countries to an estimated 500 million viewers.

Fans from around the world can also witness the action online via livestreaming at www.onefc.livesport.tv. The undercard fights are available for viewing free of charge. The main card fights will be available for purchase at just US$9.99.
