Zamora, Lavina rule PSL meet

MANILA, Philippines - Twelve-year-old Sean Terence Zamora clocked 28.78 seconds to break the US motivational time standard of 31.72 seconds in the 50m butterfly in the Gov. Ito Ynares Cup, 39th leg of the Philippine Swim League Circuit, yesterday at the Bosay Aquatic Center in Antipolo.

Zamora also had a strong finish in the 50m breaststroke (36.59) and 200m IM (2:29.10), consistently hitting the Quadruple A (AAAA).

Jose Gabriel Lavina, 14, reigned in the 200m IM in 2:28.89, the 50m butterfly in 28.28, and a fast 32 seconds in the 50m breaststroke.

Thirteen-year-old Baste Arcilla of the Coach Ramil Ilustre Swim Team made a strong finish in the 50m fly (28.65) and 200m IM (2:29.28).

Other swimmers who hit the Quadruple A standard were James Amago in the 50m butterfly (27.90), 14-year-old Nicholas Calma (29.38) and Kyle Libat, 11, in the 50m butterfly (32.75).

In the breaststroke MacTracy John Alindogan clocked 34.50 and Abdulrahim Nooh 33.03.

In the girls division, 10-year-old Antonella Lanza of International British School timed 34.81 in the 50m butterfly, beating the 35.09 AAAA time, and 42seconds in breaststroke.

Nirel Marie Ibarra, 11, timed 40 seconds in the 50m breast.

PSL president Susan Papa said the Sen. Nikki Coseteng Motivational Swimming Championship would be held March 24 at the Diliman Preparatory School on Commonwealth Ave. Quezon City.
