Que ends up joint fourth in Myanmar Open
MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que stumbled with a late-hole bogey and settled for joint fourth in the Myanmar Open topped by Thailand’s Chawalit Plaphol at the Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club in Yangon yesterday.
Que, who kept a bogey-free card of nine-under in a 32-hole stretch since the third round to move into contention, closed within one off Plaphol after a birdie on the 14th. But the three-time Asian Tour leg winner and former Philippine Open champion bogeyed the par-3 15th and bowed out of the title race.
Plaphol, meanwhile, birdied the last two holes to fire a 69 and frustrate a charging Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka by one to claim the hotly disputed crown at 270.
Que wound up three shots back at 273, sharing fourth place with Hwang In-choon of Korea (67) and Darren Beck of Australia (69). He took home $12,430 (P497,200).
Perera shot a 65 to finish at 271, one ahead of first round leader Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who had a 70 and 272.
Tony Lascuña rallied with a 67 for a 276 and salvaged a share of 13th while Frankie Miñoza ended up joint 24th with a 279 after a 70.
