MANILA, Philippines - Adamson dethroned Far Eastern University, 73-60, to arrange a title showdown with College of St. Benilde in the second Dickies-FCBL (Filipino-Chinese Basketball League) Women’s Cup at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City last Sunday.

The Lady Falcons broke away from a tight first half contest with a stinging defense while Jinky Balasta, Mary Penaranda, Marianne Tongco and Princess Cochico provided the firepower to steer Adamson to victory.

Balasta scored 19 points, including a triple that keyed Adamson’s surge in the third period, and earned the Dickies Player of the Game honors. She also had five rebounds and three assists.

Penaranda, on the other hand, poured in eight of her 14 markers, also in the third, to help the Lady Falcons’ breakaway run. Tongco, meanwhile, wound up with 13 markers while Cochico chipped in 10 points.

The Lady Blazers, on the other hand, pulled off a 65-61 overtime victory over sister squad the La Salle Lady Archers through the stellar performance of Mary Grace Dadal.

The one-game face-off of the event backed by Smart Telecom, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum and Hapee Toothpaste is set today, also at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym.

Aside from sending the game into overtime, Dadal knocked in the team’s first basket that helped turn things around for the Lady Blazers. She finished with 17 points aside from posting five boards, four assists and a steal.

Cassandra Santos paced the Lady Archers with 16 points.
