Korean fires up Stallion vs PSG side

Olmin Leyba - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Stallion FC leaned on the heroics of Korean Kim Hyo Il as it walloped a listless PSG FC, 4-0, to get past reigning champion Global FC and Loyola Meralco Sparks in the 2013 United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds Thursday night.

Il opened up scoring on the 48th minute then added one more in the three other goals the Stallion booters rammed in home in the second half.

Other scorers for Stallion FC were Rufino Familiar Sanchez and actor Daniel Matsunaga.

The Ernest Nierras-coached side tied with Loyola and Global in the lead with two wins and six points apiece but took the lead with the highest goal differential – six as against four by Loyola and three by Global.

Seeking a second straight crown, Global chalked up its second straight win by edging an upset-conscious Nomads, 2-1, thanks to the latter’s own goal in the second half as sub Bafio Magassa accidentally headed in a goal past keeper Friso Klok.

Sudanese Izzo El Habbib went on attack mode early with a fourth minute goal but Fidelis Nnabuife collected a Bahaeldin El Habbib header and blasted away with the equalizer past goalie Roland Sadia late in the first half.

But just five minutes into the second half, Nomads practically gave Global the win with that own goal miscue.

It was also a big victory for Global team owner and Phl Azkals team manager Dan Palami, who temporarily took over the coaching reins after Scottish coach Brian Reid took an emergency leave and had to return home to England.

Nomads fell to 1-1 to slide to a three-way tie at No. 4 with Kaya FC and Pachanga Diliman FC with three points. PSG took its second straight loss.
