Red Lions, Falcons gain Martin Cup top seeding

MANILA, Philippines - San Beda and Adamson smothered separate rivals to clinch the top seeding in the quarterfinal round of the ninth Fr. Martin Cup Collegiate Open basketball tournament at San Beda gym recently.

The defending champion Red Lions drew 10 points apiece from Ryusei Koga, Kyle Pascual, Arthur de la Cruz and Rome de la Rosa as they thumped the Lyceum Pirates, 74-60, while Roider Cabrera fired 18 points to power the Falcons past the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 69-35.

San Beda thus closed out the elims with a 5-1 card to gain the No. 1 spot in Group A while Adamson swept Group B.

The Lions will next take on the winner between St. Benilde-B and Lyceum for a spot in the semis while the Falcons will play the victor in the Informatics-Mapua duel.
