First world-class football field to rise at McKinley

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 2,000-seat football field with state-of-the-art facilities will soon rise at Megaworld’s 54-hectare site at McKinley Hill in Taguig.

The multi-million peso Emperador Stadium will be constructed on a 15,000 square meter land by engineers and architectural designers who have had years of experience putting up some of the world’s most renowned international football arenas.

“We’ve seen how the Philippines has made football as one of the most anticipated sporting events in recent years. That’s why we saw the need to build this kind of sporting venue that will answer the needs, in terms of amenities and facilities, of even the most demanding athletes here and abroad,” said Jericho Go, Megaworld’s first vice president for business development and leasing group.

The stadium uses the Max S 60 mm variety of the renowned Italian brand Limonta Sport, which is one of the few turf providers certified by the International Football Federation (FIFA).

The company is also the supplier of the turf systems of the AC Milan, Valencia FC and the famous floating marina field in Singapore.

The Belgian brand Schreder Group GIE and the French Zenith Luminaries were tapped for the lighting. The Bradwell Group supplied the poles, manufactured in Turkey, that support these lights.

Megaworld’s Design Alliance group was responsible for the field design and core facilities.

The seating capacity may extend to 5,000, as expansion plans are under way. Locker rooms, a dugout and shower room facilities are among the convenient fixtures at the stadium for the athletes and fans.

“With the Emperador Stadium, we take pride in being the first company to build a world-class football field in the country. We opted for trusted international brands, so our facilities can be at par with the other known football fields, around the globe,” Said Go, adding that Mckinley Hills’ expansive land area plus its convenient location in the Metro make it a “perfect venue” for staging such adrenaline-pumping sport

Future matches of the United Football League as well as other international leagues will soon take place in the sports arena.

The UFL has already forged a four-year partnership with Megaworld for priority use of the stadium.

“This deal is very instrumental in promulgating Megaworld’s ‘play’ idea on our ‘live-work-play’ formula. Now, we can add UFL’s excitng matches to the world-class features everyone can see on a Megaworld township such as Mckinley Hill,” added Go.

Mckinley Hill is a signature township development of Megaworld, the country’s largest real estate developer today. It is home to top BPO companies as Accenture and HP, international educational institutions like the Chinese International School and

Enderun, luxury condominiums and the foreign embassies of UK, UAE, South Korea and Qatar.
