AdU nears Martin quarters

MANILA, Philippines - Adamson rolled to its fourth straight win, routing Mapua, 100-54, while St. Benilde and University of Perpetual Help-A posted contrasting wins in the ninth Fr. Martin Cup Collegiate Open basketball tournament at the San Beda gym in Mendiola recently.

Roider Cabrera fired 19 points while Ingrid Sewa added 14 markers as the Falcons waylaid the Cardinals to keep their unbeaten run and zero in on the first quarterfinal slot in Group B.

Mark Romero drained 23 points as the Blazers-A swamped the University of Perpetual Help-B Altas, 68-51, while the UPHSD-A Altas needed an extra period to beat University of the Philippines Maroons, 96-90.

Tournament commissioner Robert de la Rosa said the top four teams in the two brackets will advance to the next round.

Jun Balorio pumped in 31 points while Justine Alano hit six points in the extra period to help power the Altas-A past the Maroons.
