Prima Badminton Championship slated Feb. 23-24, March 2-3

MANILA, Philippines - The Prima Badminton Championship, on its sixth year, is expected to lure the country’s top men and women players nationwide when it gets under way Feb. 23-24 and March 2-3 at the Powersmash badminton court in Pasong Tamo, Makati.

Expected to participate in the competition organized by chairman Alex Lim is the national team including Joper Escueta, Indonesian Rudy Widjaya, Chinese Lili Wang and Marco Bermejo, who among others, have already confirmed their participation.

Other entries are expected to join by the first week of February.

The four-day competition will hold men’s and women’s open singles, new events introduced for the first time in this 2013 edition of the Prima Pasta tournament, to attract more competitive and the best participants from other badminton clubs all over the country.

Level O will still have the men’s and women’s doubles.

Other events are men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles in  Levels A elite, level B, C, D, E and F while level G (beginner) will have men’s doubles and mixed doubles division.

There will also be a junior class in the boys’and girls’ singles for Under 19, Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13 categories while boys’and girls’doubles will be available for Under 19, Under 17 and Under 15. Trophies and prizes await the winners and runners-up of all events.

The leveling schedule has started on Jan. 5, 12, 16, 19, 26 up to Feb.2, 9 and 16 at the Powersmash court in Pasong Tamo, Makati. Players have until Feb. 16 to submit their entries.
