Fun run to benefit Carmelites
MANILA, Philippines - The Takbo para kay Sta Teresa de Avila hits the road tomorrow in two venues with proceeds to fund the Foundation for Carmelite Scholastics of the student-friars and the Care Fund for the elderly friars of the Order of Discalced Carmelites.
Organizers of the event, which marks the fifth centenary celebration of the first woman Doctor of Church, expect over 3,000 runners to participate in the 3K and 5K races to be held simultaneously in Quezon City and San Pablo City.

The event, organized by the National Commission for the Celebration of the Fifth Birth Centenary of Sta Teresa de Avila (Order of Discalced Carmelites) with Rev. Fr. Dan Fauste, OCD, as chairman, will have the theme “Takbo Mo, Dasal Ko,†which entitles registered participants to submit a request to be prayed over by the Carmelite nuns.
Sponsored by P&G with Safeguard as presentor, the footrace will be preceded by a Holy Mass at 6 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mt. Carmel Shrine Parish in New Manila in QC and at the Liceo de San Pablo in Laguna.
