Seminar launches PSL 2013 program

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Swimming League yesterday launched its calendar year with a coaches seminar designed to brief PSL national coaches on the 2013 swimming calendar, the association’s national and international commitments as well as international training and incentives for PSL coaches.

The seminar, held at Marymount School in BF Homes, Parañaque, gathered coaches from Bicol, Mindoro, Cavite, Los Baños, Batangas, Quezon City, Pasay City, Antipolo City and Lucena City. It  was handled by PSL president Susan Papa who also introduced the PSL Code of Ethics for swimmers, coaches and team managers and discussed the PSL rulebook for 2013.

The seminar, also held in cooperation with the Philippine Swimming Coaches Association, briefed coaches on the PSL competitions for 2013, particularly the Palarong Bicol slated next month and other Palaro regionals, PSL national competitions and the proposed national high school and inter-collegiate swimming championships.

It also discussed incentives for coaches, the calendar of coaching seminars abroad, particularly in the World Swimming Coaches Association in the US, as well as international competitions where PSL coaches will be tapped to lead the PSL delegation.

The attendees were Edgar Galeno, Emerlindo Matienzo, Nunilon Moreno, Edwin Valdez, Arlon Rances, Alexis Dumaguit, Jeffrey Medrano, Wilfredo Pelongo, Arlene Palces, Virgilio de Luna, Alex Papa, Marlon Dula, Deogracias Filoteo, Rochelle Dimalanta and Guia Llaguno.
