Color Manila Run draws huge field

Participants jockey for position during the start of the Color Manila Run.

MANILA, Philippines - The Color Manila Run lured a banner field in its inaugural staging where runners raced through different color stations at the Bonifacio Global City recently.

Participants vied in the 1.5K, 3K, 5K and 10K divisions with part of the proceeds going to Republikha, a non-stock, non profit organization that aims to empower the next generation through music and education, and Hop-E, a foundation moving towards helping eradicate poverty through the four elements, Education, Empowerment, Employment, and Events.

Put up by Proactive and KangaROOS, the original shoes with pockets, the event was the first of its kind in the country where participants sprinted under the confetti of yellow, blue, pink, green and purple.

Gracing the color-filled day were fitness coach Jim Saret, who led the warm-up exercises, coach Edward Kho, who updated crowd with the progress of runners as they made a dash to different color stops, and celebrities such as Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio and husband, Joseph, singer/actor Jaco Benin, couple and running enthusiast Gerrard Pizarras and Jan Marini and Philippine Volcanoes Andrew Wolff and Chris Everingham.
