MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle-Lipa A takes on De La Salle-Canlubang today, looking for its third straight win and the first berth in the semifinal round of the Toby’s Junior Volleyball League at the Quorum Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The DLS-Lipa A tossers swept past De La Salle-Zobel, 25-13, 25-17, and MGC New Life Christian Academy, 25-20, 25-11, to seize control of Pool B in the two-group girls division of the eighth staging of the event featuring some of the leading high school volley teams in the region.
Gametime is at 11 a.m. after the 10 a.m. opener between College of San Agustin and Miriam College in girls’ Pool A of the tournament sponsored by Toby’s Sports, Shakey’s Pizza and Mikasa and organized by Metro Sports.
The Miriam spikers return to action at 1 p.m. as they clash with the De La Salle-Lipa B side, which totes a 1-1 card, while CSA and De La Salle-Lipa B complete their double-headers at 4 p.m.
De La Salle-Lipa, meanwhile, goes for its third straight win in the boys’ side as it squares off with a debuting St. Joseph’s College at 2 p.m. while Palanan Elementary School seeks its third win in four games against winless Rafael Palma Elem. School at 3 p.m.
Hope Christian High School, coming off a victory in the Shakey’s Girls Volley League NCR leg, shows the way in girls’ Pool A with a victory over De La Salle-Lipa B, 25-12, 25-14, last Dec. 9. The HCS tossers resume their campaign for a second straight title win on Jan. 5, 2013.
