MANILA, Philippines - FEU’s Josie Malacad settled for another silver medal in 400m hurdles as Team UAAP-Philippines made a lean haul in the 16th ASEAN University Games in Vientiane, Laos Monday.
Malacad clocked 1:03.48, two seconds behind gold medal winner Nguyen Huyen of Vietnam, adding the silver to her bronze in last Saturday’s 400m individual event.
Another FEU standout, Dalyn Carmen, took the bronze in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time was 12:10.73 in the event won by Vietnamese bet Nguyen Thi Phuong.
Team UAAP-Philippines remained in sixth place with a 2-8-10 gold-silver-bronze medal haul.
After breaking the national record in the 110m hurdles Sunday, La Salle’s Patrick Unso struggled to finish fourth in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 54.45 seconds.
Janry Ubas of UST did not win a medal in the long jump although he equaled his personal best with a 7.01-meter effort to finish sixth.
The Phl swimmers also failed to medal as UP’s Nikita Decera and La Salle’s Johansen Aguilar finished fourth in the men’s 800m free and 200m individual medley, respectively.
Ateneo’s Jasmine Ong also fell short in winning a medal after wounding up fourth in the women’s 800m free, while teammate Kim Uy placed seventh in the same event.
