Lascuna just 2 shots off in Johor Open
MANILA, Philippines - Tony Lascuna fired a second straight four-under 68 and moved within two strokes of Daniel Chopra of Sweden halfway through the weather-suspended Iskandar Johor Open at the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club in Johor Bahru, Malaysia yesterday,
Lascuna, the Order of Merit frontrunner in the Philippine Golf Tour, knocked down back-to-back birdies from No. 4 on his way home to complete a 34-34 card and a two-day haul of 136 that put him within reach of Chopra, who totaled a 10-under 134 after a 66, and a crack at a breakthrough Asian Tour victory.
Three-time Asian Tour leg winner Angelo Que likewise put himself in title contention with a 70 for a 137, three strokes behind in a tie with Spain’s Sergio Garcia, who shot a 69, but Elmer Salvador, who earlier made a solid 70, fumbled with a 73 and barely made the cut at 143.
Frankie Miñoza, who matched par 72 Friday, struggled with a 76 and failed to advance. So did Miguel Tabuena, who had two 75s for 150, and Mars Pucay, who had a 153 after a 77.
