The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Green Hills goes for a two-division sweep of the Energen Mini-Youth Ball Metro Invitational eliminations today at the Blue Eagle gym in Ateneo.

The Junior Archers, who beat their rivals by double-digit margins, aim for a 7-0 record in the Mini division (9-11 age group) as they play the Don Bosco Technical College side at 9:30 a.m. today. They face the Ateneo-B cagers at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

In the Contender division (12-14 age group), the defending champion Junior Archers vie for the same perfect record against Ateneo-B at 9:30 a.m tomorrow.

National University, which moved to third place last week, also tries to stay on a roll as it clashes with Ateneo-B at 10:50 a.m. today and Notre Dame of Greater Manila at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the Contender matches.

Eight teams tangle in a single round-robin elimination of the tournament supported by TaosPuso Foundation, TriDharma Marketing Corp. and MYBall Inc.

The top four advance in the semifinals where the first- and second-seeded schools hold a twice-to-beat advantage.

Trailing the Junior Archers in the Mini division are Xavier School (6-1), defending champion Ateneo-A (4-2) and Ateneo-B (3-2).

Lourdes School Mandaluyong (3-1), NU (3-2) and Ateneo-A (3-3) also try to stay within striking distance from the Junior Archers in the Contender games.
