Aces, Kings, Boosters gun for No. 4-5-6
Games today (MOA Arena)
4:15 p.m. – Meralco vs San Mig Coffee
6:30 p.m. – Talk n Text vs Ginebra
MANILA, Philippines - With the playoff cast complete, the PBA Philippine Cup elimination round comes to an end tonight with a MOA Arena twin-bill determining the playoff seedings of Alaska Milk, Barangay Ginebra and Meralco.
It’s Meralco versus San Mig Coffee and Ginebra against Talk n Text in the final play date of the elims that decides who square off in the two best-of-three quarterfinal showdowns.
Three of four scenarios pit Rain or Shine against Ginebra and Alaska versus Meralco. It’s RoS versus Meralco and Ginebra against Alaska only should the Mixers and the Kings prevail over the Bolts and the Tropang Texters, respectively.
Whatever happens, Talk n Text and San Mig Coffee are assured of one-two finish. Also safe with their seats are Rain or Shine at No. 3, Petron Blaze at No. 7 and Air21 at No. 8. Out of the playoff pictures are Barako Bull and Globalport.
The Tropang Texters and the Mixers will enjoy twice-to-beat advantage versus the Express and the Boosters in the quarters.
Whoever they end up playing with in the quarters, all four teams seeing action tonight vow to do their best to win their last game in the elims.
“We are definitely going out to compete and hopefully be rewarded with a victory. We achieved our short-term goal of securing one of the six slots available and for good measure, we want to approach the playoffs with some confidence boost that we can generate from the game against San Mig,” said Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio.
“The plan is to win, regardless of who we face in the quarters,” Gregorio added.
“Talk n Text has always been a tough team to play, so we have to be our best and we want to go into the playoffs on a positive note,” said Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen.
