UAAP volleyball: Lady Eagles rout hapless Lady Warriors
MANILA, Philippines – The Ateneo Lady Eagles dominated a listless UE Lady Warriors side in straight sets, 25-16, 25-13, 25-13, to stay unbeaten in two games in the 75th season of the UAAP Women's Volleyball tournament at the Fil-Oil Flying V Arena in San Juan today.
Team captain Fille Cainglet bounced back from a mediocre outing the last time around, leading the Lady Eagles with 13 points – including 10 kills – while Alyssa Valdez added 10 points for the Katipunan-based squad.
"We played relaxed and played our sets and plays well. I believe that is our advantage in this game. The execution of our game plan is the reason we had a great game today," said Cainglet, who is in her last year of duty for Ateneo.
The Lady Eagles took advantage of the errant ways of the Lady Warriors, capitalizing on their errors which they converted to 28 points.
"Also our receiving today was great. Our plays start on that end. We believe in ourselves especially skills wise so we should just continue to build our confidence for the upcoming games," Cainglet added.
UE is still winless in two outings.
