URCC pits titans, upcoming MMA stars

MANILA, Philippines - The Universal Reality Combat Championship-Colt 45 XXII dubbed “Dekada” on Dec. 1 will not only feature established stars Eduard Folayang and Eric Kelly but also a slew of upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters raring to show their wares.

To highlight the 10th anniversary of the country’s most prominent MMA promotion, URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar will showcase some of his top fighters who are out to pull off impressive victories at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“It’s going to be a big night for MMA fans since we’re going to entertain them not only with two explosive fights but 10,” said Aguilar. “It’s a must-see event.”

Among the rising stars who will see action in the event presented by Colt 45 are Alvin “The Phenom” Ramirez, Red “Filipino Bolo Punch” Romero and Froilan Sarenas.

Sarenas will be defending his URCC middleweight title against Rodrigo Praxedes of Phuket Top Team in the event backed by Xplay, Anzahl, Solar Sports, Chris Sports, VRP Medical Center.

Ramirez, on the other hand, battles Spartan Sumogat in the pinweight class while Romero takes on SulpianoLaurio of Sprawl MMA in the featherweight division. 

In other matches, flyweight Janel Lanusa goes up against Rami Crisostomo, flyweight Roy Doliguez against Dennis Salazar, Caloy Baduria vs Sugar Ray Estrada (catweight) and bantamweight Onyok Transmonte vs Hideo Morikawa.

The showdown between Jessie Rafols and Keiff Mangusan will be for the URCC bantamweight crown.

The highlight of the event, however, will be the matches of Folayang and Kelly who will go up against American Lowen Tynanes and Brad Terrey of Thailand’s Phuket Top Team, respectively.
