60 clash in Del Monte junior golf

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Sixty junior players, among them members of the big Miñoza golfing clan, slug it out in the inaugural staging of the ICTSI-JGFP Mindanao Inter-School Golf Championship which got under way today at the Del Monte Golf Club in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

The tournament, organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines and its main backer the International Container Terminal Services, Inc., is a satellite event of the ongoing ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School Golf Championship. The event, participated in by schools in Metro Manila, has attracted an all-time high field of 280 players from 32 schools.

“Envisioned as a venue to forge camaraderie among young talents and to bolster their school spirit, the Inter-School has flourished such that more schools have now acknowledged the significance of golf as a varsity sport worth developing in their institutions,” said JGFP president Luigi Tabuena.

The field wil vie for honors in six divisions.
