URCC lines up big anniversary bash at Mall of Asia

MANILA, Philippines - The Universal Reality Combat Championship marks its 10th anniversary with a grand show for the country’s mixed martial arts practitioners and enthusiasts Dec. 1 at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

To highlight the celebration, URCC president and founder Alvin Aguilar is lining up at least 10 fights for URCC  fans. Aguilar said the URCC has been a venue for future MMA stars, adding he’s glad to have produced a number of crack fighters.

“I can proudly say that URCC played a great part in propagating and popularizing MMA in the country,” said Aguilar. “Just like URCC, MMA is also getting bigger because we produced world-class athletes.”

After more than 500 professional MMA fights, Aguilar now has five battle-tested fighters, including Eduard Folayang and Eric “The Natural” Kelly.

Folayang and Kelly will be defending their titles in the event dubbed URCC XXII Dekada.

Like most of their fights, URCC will have Colt 45 as its main sponsor with Aguilar vowing to unravel some of his talents who are raring to break into the international MMA scene.

Aside from Colt 45, other backers of the event are Xplay, Anzahl and Solar Sports.

Tickets are now available at SM Tickets (470-2222). Action starts at 8 p.m.

“It’s going to be an important match for Folayang and Kelly since they will be defending Filipino MMA pride,” said Aguilar.
