North meets South tomorrow at Clark

MANILA, Philippines - The battle for supremacy and the fastest time on the quarter-mile strip goes a notch higher as Clark hosts the “North Meets South: The All-Philippine Drag Racing Invitational” tomorrow at the Clark International Speedway Drag Strip in Pampanga.

Six-time titlist Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing, Jonathan Young and Jeannette Go will banner the North team while reigning Drag Racing champion Martin Manalo of RSL Motorsports, Sherwin Esguerra and Jywell Comet will spearhead the South squad.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. Drag Racing director Fil Gulfin has advised all drivers to come early with complete racing safety gears and accessories to avail themselves of the open practice before the drivers briefing at 8 am.

The event, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petronas Lubricants, Batangas Racing Circuit and Clark Development Corp., features the North Team composed of drag racers from Manila Bulacan, Pampanga and other northern provinces) and the South squad from Las Pinas, Alabang, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and other Southern Luzon provinces.

Participants will not only face rivals from the other group but also in their own groups in pursuit of individual titles, including in the Hotstreet, Sportsman, Expert, Pro, Super Pro and the Quick 8 divisions.

Tiu will be joined by American V8 muscle cars of AHRA-Garage Power led by Northern Series Quick 8 champion William Hand, John Ryzia, Steve Caldwell and Christopher Sheaves.
