MANILA, Philippines - The Vaseline Men XTerra Philippine Team finished with flying colors in the recently held XTerra Off-road Triathlon Global Championship in Maui, Hawaii.
Dubbed as the world’s premier and biggest off-road triathlon series, XTerra Off-road Triathlon is also one of the most difficult as it features a combination of a 1.5-kilometer rough water swim, a 30.4-kilometer mountain bike track, and a 9.5-kilometer roller-coaster-ride-like trail run through fields and forests.
Another proof of the competition’s magnitude is its number of participants – as many as 740 triathletes. These participants came from over 34 different countries and are elite, professional – as the world’s best of the best triathletes.
In the Philippines, Vaseline Men, the fastest growing men’s skin care brand, held the Vaseline Men XTerra Tri-outs Camp to form a five-man team that would represent the country in the XTerra Global Championship in Maui.
Demonstrating their athletic skills in the prestigious competition were team members coach Noy Jopson, celebrity triathletes Matteo Guidicelli and Drew Arellano, and the two winners of the Vaseline Men XTerraTri-outs local competition – corporate training manager Redg Plopinio and Second Wind Running Store owner Hector Yuzon.
In the end, the Vaseline Men XTerra Philippine Team delivered exceptional results. In fact, all team members are included in the 650 out of 740 contenders who were able to finish and withstand the challenges of the race.
