Coseteng, Jackes seek title repeats
MANILA, Philippines - Young aces gear up for their respective title bids as the Formula Cadet Cup and the Mini-ROK Cup hold its final two races today in the 2012 Coca-Cola Formula Cadet Cup and Mini-ROK Cup at the Carmona race track.
Eduardo Coseteng and Fil-Aussie Flynn Jackes, who ruled the kickoff legs, hope to reassert their supremacy over their respective rivals to capture the top plums of this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines, and sponsored by Coca-Cola, Yokohama the official tires, Sparco, Motorstar and Aeromed.
The second leg will be staged today while the final round is set tomorrow along with the finals of the ROK races.
The seven-year-old Coseteng, son of multi-titled Touring Car champ Jody, is looking forward to his first ever title on his debut year under the Eagle Cement Team as he guns for a repeat over Sean Draeco McLelland and Formula-E newcomer Bianca Bustamante.
Jackes, the nine-year-old prodigy of TRS-Castrol Kids Racing Team, is eyeing his second Mini-ROK crown after clinching the same honor in the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series.
He’s setting his sights on a Triple Crown as he’s also aiming for the Asian Mini-ROK crown of the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championships.
But winning the second Mini-ROK title will be a tough task as he faces strong challenges from Seaoil-DC-Kart Plaza karter Gabriel Tayao Cabrera and Fern-C Racing’s Dylan Arambulo who are expected to engage him in a neck-to-neck three-way battle.
Based on their performances in the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series, both Jackes and Cabrera won twice at the Carmona race track
In the SQ Karting Cup, Jerry Choi Acuña is gunning for both the SQ Expert title over Japanese Takehiko Kuchikata and Red Bull Supreme’s Don Batino, and the SQ Veterans crown over Kuchikata and Gonzalo Julian Jr
