The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Blu Boys will get back into serious training beginning next week after a runner-up finish in the recent Asian Men’s Softball Championship as they prime up for the World Championship next year in New Zealand. The Blu Boys dropped a 0-7 loss to the Japanese in the recent Asian fi nals in Japan but Amateur Softball Association of the Phils. president Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed satisfaction with his wards’ performance that netted them a berth in the next year’s world tilt. “What is important for us is we qualifi ed for the 2013 World Championship in New Zealand next year. Our stint here was a good learning experience, particularly our games against Japan and we will put what we learned into good use,” said Lhuillier. “Defi nitely we will be doing some changes in our roster and will adopt some new hitting techniques including quick muscle control to improve bat speed.” The Blu Boys kept abreast with the Japanese in the fi rst two innings but the latter broke the game wide open with a fi ve-run binge in the third.
