Milo, Estefano dominate Coke karting series

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Fern-C Racing brothers Milo and Estefano Rivera made history as they ruled the final round of the Coca-Cola KF2-KF3 Cup Series at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga recently.

Milo Rivera, 16, clinched the KF2 crown while Estefano copped the KF3 title of the event, making them the first siblings in local karting history to win the top awards of a single series.

Milo had clinched the KF2 plum after ruling Race 7 by just 0.007 of second ahead of runner-up VJ Suba of Eagle Cement. Fern-C teammate Matthew Chan took third place with Vrei-AR Suba and Archim Lagman finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

He wrapped up the series, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Coca-Cola, Yokohama the official tires, Sparco, Motorstar and Aeromed, with a total of 242 points. That also made him a strong contender for the coveted Karter of the Year award.

CJ Tsui of Formula-E Racing took the overall runner-up crown with 147 points while Suba and Chan tied for third with 115 points.  Bobby Domingo of Industria Racing placed fourth with 87 points while Archim Lagman ended up fifth with 77 points.

Estefano, who was just 10 points ahead heading to the final leg, swept both Races 7 and 8 to emerge the KF3 champion with a total of 253 points. It also assured him of the Junior Karter of the Year award with two more legs in the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series.

The victory also denied last year’s champion Cebuano Jette Calderon of Red Bull Supreme-Industria Racing of a back-to-back crown after finishing with 216 points for second.
