Rosales, Agojo still way behind in Taiwan Open

MANILA, Philippines - Jennifer Rosales hardly improved with a 73 after a 74 but fell 13 shots off joint leaders Inbee Park and Suzann Pettersen halfway through the LPGA Taiwan Championship at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taiwan late Friday.

Rosales hit three birdies, including back-to-back from No. 13, but fumbled with four bogeys, including on the par-3 16th, that marred his 37-36 round. She dropped to joint 56th at 147, 13 strokes behind Park and Pettersen.

Park fired a 69 but found company in a charging Pettersen, who turned in the day’s best round of bogey-free 65, including five birdies at the backside of the tough layout.

The duo pooled a 10-under 134 and took a two-shot lead over Catriona Matthew and Yani Tseng, who both had 136 after a 66 and 69, respectively.

Amateur Jayvie Agojo of the ICTSI golf squad continued to struggle for the second straight, winding up with a 77 after a 78 as the reigning Santi Cup champion, who topped the Taiwan Qualifier to get a spot here, fell to 73rd at 155.

Agojo, who sparked a run of victories by the ICTSI-backed bets with a win in Indonesia last month, had a 37 at the turn but dropped three strokes in the first three holes at the back and flubbed a couple of birdie putts inside six feet before bogeying the 17th for that 77.
