MANILA, Philippines - University of Batangas opens defense of its crown when the South Luzon/Bicol regional games of the Champions League (PCCL) 2012 National Collegiate Championship kicks off Nov. 3-5 at the J.M. Robredo Coliseum in Naga City.
Looming as the Brahmans’ toughest challenger is newly crowned NCAA South champion St. Francis of Assisi.
Other champion teams participating are CCDI Wildcats of Sorsogon; M. S. Enverga University from Lucena, Quezon; Amando Cope College Green Serpents from Tabaco and Naga College Foundation Tigers, representing Naga.
The office of Naga City Mayor John Garcia Bongat arranged for the holding of the games.
At stake in the regional games is a seat in Round 16 (Sweet 16) representing South Luzon-Bicol region.
The regional champion will meet the champion of North/Central Luzon in the opening games of the “step-ladder knock-out” phase.
Six collegiate “mother leagues” involving 44 teams participated in the annual search for the best collegiate team to represent South Luzon-Bicol region in the nationwide tournament.
CCDI Sorsogon represented the region in 2010 followed by Batangas University Brahmans in 2011.
