MANILA, Philippines - The Run United Philippine Marathon (RUPM) hits the road this Sunday with a big field expected to vie in the Enervon Activ 42K and Alaxan FR 21K at the Bonifacio Global City and the SM Mall of Asia.

The event caps the popular Run United series that has generated so much interest from the running enthusiasts and fitness buffs, who have batted for the full 42.195-km race.

“The runners clamored for a marathon from us and we also believe that Run United enthusiasts are up to the challenge of finishing a marathon already, so it’s all systems go for Run United Philippine Marathon,” said Alex Panlilio, head of the Unilab Active Health (ULAH) program.

The 42K and 21K will start at the Bonifacio Global City and finish at the SM Mall of Asia. It will cover a route dissecting the cities of Taguig, Makati and Pasay.

Other events on tap are the Ceelin 500-meter Dash, Hydrite 3K, Dolfenal 5K and the Enervon HP Recovery 10K. They will be raced on an out-and-back course at the MOA grounds.

The Unilab Active Health Village will also be part of the RUPM experience that features four categories – Active Kids Zone, Health, Sports and Leisure, Runners’ Lounge and iConnect.

In-store registration, meanwhile, ends today at Riovana Bonifacio Global City (28th Street corner 9th Avenue) and Katipunan (Third Floor Regis Building) and at Toby’s SM Mall of Asia (Ground Floor Entertainment Hall) and Trinoma.

The organizes have also arranged for a red carpet, marching bands, exclusive finish arc, colorful balloons, video/photo shots and the other surprises on Sunday.

“We want to make sure that participants will not only remember how well organized our events are, we want their participation in our events memorable too by providing them the best race experience possible,” said Panlilio.

“We cater to all types of runners, including progressive and elite runners. RUPM is our way of helping them level up to more challenging distances,” he added.

RUPM will also be high on nationalistic touches to celebrate Filipino sportsmanship. Miniature Philippine flags will be given to all participants crossing the finish line. The design of the limited edition race singlet also depicts Filipino pride.

There will be separate categories for Filipino and foreign winners, to give recognition to more runners.

The race kit will contain limited edition RUPM singlet, bib number and wrist tags for the 500-meter dash participants and will be available upon registration.
