DELeague cage tilt unwraps tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines - The second DELeague Open Invitational Basketball Cup unwraps tomorrow with Sta. Lucia Monte Carlo kicking off its title-retention bid against JEKASA at 3 p.m. at the Marikina Sports Park in Marikina City.

Hobe Bihon and P.L. Global clash in the day’s other game. Other teams seeing action are ACS-Fairview Selection, Marikina-EDSECA, HOGS, Skyforce Selection, DSM, During’s BBQ, Steel Trust Corp., Architectos and Globe Inc.

“We are very glad to stage the DELeague again. We hope that this second year will be an enjoyable one for fans and for the participating teams as well,” said Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman. “Hopefully, DELeague will give our commercial teams the opportunity to promote their brands.”

Marikina City has promised a bigger and better DELeague with this year’s champion receiving P150,000 cash prize. The runner-up will get P100,000 while the third placer will take home P30,000.

DELeague commissioner Sonny Manucat III expressed confidence of a sell-out crowd in each game in the league which features ex-PBA cagers Kiko Adriano, Marlou Aquino, Devon Sullivan, Chris Calaguio, Warren Ibañez, Mc Caceres, Don Camaso, Cesar Catli, Richard Melencio, and Paolo Mendoza.

The event is co-sponsored by PCA Marivalley Construction, OLOPSC, Boeing’s Gym, Mckie’s video and party needs, Simply Delicious, Luyong Panciteria and Jekasa Sportswear.

Games will be held every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday with tickets pegged at P10.
