MANILA, Philippines - Dennis Orcollo humbled world No. 1 Kelly Fisher of England, 8-6, to advance to the quarterfinal round of the World Pool Masters at the Hala Legionow in Kielce, Southern Poland Sunday.
Orcollo dropped the first rack but swept the next five before thwarting Fisher to fashion out the victory.
Fisher actually moved to within 5-6, but Orcollo took the 12th rack on a break-and-run before the former stayed within striking distance by taking the next rack. But Fisher made a dry break on the 14th and Orcollo went on to score a run out on an open table to annex the victory.
Orcollo will next meet Mika Immonen, who edged Radoslaw Babica of Poland, 8-7.
Meanwhile, Alex Pagulayan bowed to Mateusz Sniegocki of Poland, 6-8, in the quarters.
It was a sorry loss for Pagulayan, who raced to 4-1 and 5-2 leads, only to crack in the end, enabling Sniegocki to claw back.
