PSL, DPS tankers to swim for friendship in Fujian

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  The Fujian International Culture and Economic Exchange Center of China has invited the Diliman Preparatory School and the Philippine Swimming League to send 25 swimmers to the Fuzhou City Goodwill swim meet slated Nov. 3-4 in Fujian Province in China as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries through sports.

DPS president and former Sen. Nikki Coseteng and PSL president Susan Papa made the announcement upon acceptance of the invitation of the host Fuzhou City in Fujian Province yesterday through Chinese Consul General Shen Zicheng.

“Nikki Coseteng’s grandfather was the Mayor of Xiamen City in 1932 and she has very strong ties with her home province and with officials of the Chinese government over the last 25 years,” said Papa. “This will be a great opportunity to widen the knowledge of young athletes and help them experience and develop camaraderie as swimmers and ambassadors of goodwill.”

Coseteng, whose father Emerson Coseteng was a founder of the PBA, said the host province has extended an all-expense-paid trip for the 25 athletes.
