MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Sports commissioner Iggy Clavecilla suffered a stroke in his hotel room just before the start of the Asian Seniors Golf Championship in Incheon, Korea where he was set to compete.
Fellow commissioner Jolly Gomez relayed the news yesterday of Clavecilla’s health condition during the Batang Pinoy National Capital Region Qualifier in Marikina.
“It’s sad to inform you that PSC commissioner Iggy Clavecilla suffered a stroke in Korea,” said Gomez.
Gomez said Clavecilla, who took over from Chito Loyzaga early this year, was found in the room by close aide Fritz Gaston just before the golf meet.
Gomez said Clavecilla is conscious although he did not elaborate.
“Iggy is conscious but that’s all we have for now. We’re hoping and praying we hear more good news about him soon,” he said.
