MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle-Lipa and De La Salle-Zobel continued to show the way in their respective age groups in the Southern Classic baseball tournament at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa.
After last weekend’s games, DLS-Lipa leads in the boys’ 9-10 division with 18 points followed by De La Salle-Zobel, 17 and Ateneo Blue and Southridge with 16 points each.
DLS-Lipa also paces the boys’ 13-14 category with 21 points with the Alabang Tigers in second place with 18 points.
De La Salle-Zobel, meanwhile, is tops in both the boys’ 11-12 and 17-and-under categories, toting 23 points for a three-point lead over Southridge in 11-12 division.
DLS-Z also assembled 24 points in the 17-and under class, eight points ahead of Southridge.
Southridge, meanwhile, paces the youngest 5-8 years old group with 10 points with Ateneo-Blue just behind with 9 markers.
In the girls’ division of the event sponsored by Phil. Transmarine Carriers, Petron ICTSI, Gatorade, Constellation Travel, Gigawatt Inc., Jamba Juice, Krispy Kreme, Lifeline Inc., Kenny Rogers, Brgy. Ayala-Alabang Village, AAVA, and the Alabang Country Club, Woodrose leads both age groups.
Woodrose Red and Blue are 1-2 in the 12-and-under with 19 and 18 points apiece while in the 18 & under, Woodrose is on top with 17 points followed by Smokey Mountain-GK with 15 points.
Meanwhile, after the third leg on Sept. 29-30, the top four teams in each age group will advance to the championship round on Oct. 13 -14 at the Alabang Country Club.
The tournament is organized by the Junior Baseball & Softball Foundation of the Philippines and the Alabang Baseball and Softball Club.
