MANILA, Philippines - Enzo Gomez, Boyong Deles and Chut Cuera led winners in the inaugural Hamilo Coast Squash tournament recently at the Pico de Loro Cove Country Club.
Other winners were Romy Dona, Alan Tantoco, Lino Aribado, Rico Gomez, Ed Aguilando, Juneever Bagadlong and Ricky Espinola.
The event, held in partnership with the Squash Rackets Association of the Philippines (SRAP), aims to promote the sport among members and guests of the exclusive club.
The whole-day, 10-player, four-team tournament drew the country’s leading squash players, including the national team, who competed with fellow sports enthusiasts, including renowned model and host Tweetie De Leon-Gonzales.
“This is actually the first out-of-town tournament of the Squash Rackets Association of the Philippines, where I am a member. Hamilo Coast is a great place for those exercise aficionados who want to get the best of both worlds – relaxation and a sports fix,” she said.
“Spectators were definitely given a full display of mental agility and athleticism – two of the traits squash players are known for,” said Vince Abad Santos, SRAP board member.
The Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club, which is the centerpiece amenity, showcases indoor basketball and badminton courts, a tennis court, swimming pools, a spacious gym, game rooms and three squash courts, the latest addition to amenities that make the destination a prime choice of sports enthusiasts.
“Our vision to support our members’ lifestyles as well as our intent to continue advocating a way of life anchored on active leisure is evidenced by initiatives such as the squash open. With this, we hope to showcase the diversity of recreation that is essential to a place like Pico de Loro Cove at Hamilo Coast,” said Rona Torres-Tan, senior vice president for Costa del Hamilo, Inc.
