MANILA, Philippines - The Bull Runner Dream Marathon (TBRDM) has clocked a new record – selling out 750 slots within 48 minutes during its online registration held last Sept. 2.
TBRDM’s fourth run will be mounted on Feb. 24, 2013 at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
“We are absolutely elated, and now look forward to the difficult task of sorting through and picking the final entrants. We hope to prioritize beginners who would mark this as their first full marathon,” said Jaymie Pizarro, TBRDM founder, and editor of popular and award-winning blog, the bullrunner.com.
TBRDM was co-founded by former P&G CEO James Lafferty in 2009. It aims to provide beginners in the running community a wealth of support needed to negotiate their first attempt at such a distance. These include lectures and training programs during the 22-week build-up designed by Lafferty, an international marathoner.
“We took an idea, and Jaymie created this amazing event that is a showcase for the Philippines. It has not only given now several thousand runners their chance at running a full marathon, but it has helped fuel the overall running boom in the country,” said Lafferty.
Popular magazine Marathon and Beyond describes TBRDM as “the first and only race of its kind, designed for beginners, solely for beginners.”
TBRDM 2013 is presented by Unilab Active Health and co-presented by Runrio along with official venue partner Nuvali. Other sponsors include New Balance, Sun Broadband, Gatorade, Secondwind Running Store, Forward Lean Running, Chris Sports, and Thorlos.
