La Salle-Dasma wins 2 volley titles

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Cavite-based spikers turned back their rivals on two fronts to clinch the men’s and women’s crowns of the 11th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) volleyball tournament.

The Patriots leaned on the booming serves of Louie Dimapilis in the final set and the all-around play of most valuable player Abdulwahab Al-Frasin to repulse the Olivarez College Sea Lions, 25-17, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, last Friday and keep the men’s crown of this tournament supported by Mikasa and Molten Balls.

The win allowed the Patriots to finish their best-of-three finals showdown with the Sea Lions via a 2-0 sweep at the Central Colleges of the Philippines gymnasium in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Last Wednesday, the Patriots took Game 1, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.

The Lady Patriots, with Giselle Bembo taking the MVP honors,  banked on Iumi Yongco and Mariel Desengano to turn back Philippine School of Business Administration, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18.

The Lady Patriots also finished their best-of-three title series with a 2-0 sweep.
